Up to date, a clinical diagnosis in the field of orthopedics is based on MRI- or CT-scans and the expertise of the surgeon. In case of a surgery, postoperative consequences and therapy options are mainly answered by the experience of the surgeon. However biomechanical changes due to adapted anatomy may be difficult to answer even for experienced professionals.
numex offers an advanced analysis method to preoperative examine surgical strategies and simulate their resulting effects on the biomechanical behavior of joint structures. With numex solutions, the treatment process will be improved by a virtual second opinion which could be crucial regarding decision making.
The technology of numex is based on clinical MRI datasets. The patient‐specific 3‐D simulation model includes bones, cartilage and soft tissues with mechanical‐functional relevance. This process can be easily integrated in the existing clinical process for a ground-breaking improvement.
The software provided by numex consists of an extensive planning tool that is operated intuitively by surgeons. The software allows virtual planning of surgeries regarding the field of orthopedics such as resections, osteotomies or arthroplasties. Clinical examinations can be simulated to monitor outcomes.
The benefit is given both to patients as well as to surgeons. Through an optimized and simple planning, the interventions are more precise, efficient and reproducible. Therefore, the success of the procedure can be increased and postoperative functional limitations can be avoided. This will lead to improve the quality of life and thus reduce healthcare costs.
The management is comprised of three people with expertise in biomechanical engineering, computer science and business development. The core team is completed by two software developers with expertise in medical image processing. This team is completed by an advisory board of orthopedic surgeons, medical device scientists and attorney at laws with specific know-how in the healthcare industry.
